Shelby's Butterfly Birthday card

My one and only daughter turned 19 today.  I find it harder to make cards for the people I am closest to.  I don't know why.  I guess because I want them to be extra special.
I have admired this butterfly on the Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy cartridge since I first saw it
(page 55).   I did 3 layers.  A solid bottom layer in purple, a solid layer in purple glitter and the filigree layer in the solid purple.  I only glued the layers together in the center so that the wing layers are seperate. Then I put it on an Action Wobble.

I took these pictures in a hurry and the paper colors are off.  The bottom layer has a nice warm brown background that doesn't come out in the picture.  I added gems to the butterfly's body and smaller gems for the antennae. A brown flower and pink flower with a purple center to finish the outside.

On the inside I used a deep edge Martha Stewart punch that I recently got called Daisy Lace.  I absolutely love this punch.   The Happy Birthday is one I have used repeatedly this fall from a Close to My Heart set called Celebrations.  I love it too.  The butterflies are also from a Close to My Heart set called Sentiments.  These sets were on special when I ordered the Art Philosophy cartridge and I picked them up also.

As I often say, this card is prettier in person because my photo didn't turn out well.  It didn't turn out quite like I wanted but my daughter, Shelby liked it and that is what matters the most!

Hot Rod Birthday

My nephew turned 16 on his birthday a few days ago.  As most 16 year olds he is excited about getting his driver's license.  So this is the card I made for his birthday.

Inside

I used the image from the Cars cartridge on page 36 .  I hand cut the windshield because I didn't want to add the eyes.

I'm sorry that I don't remember which cartridge the font is from.  I actually made the card several weeks ago.

Imagine Update

I called Provocraft today to discuss my Imagine.  I was on hold for no less than an hour and a half (I thought that calling on Tuesday wouldn't be as bad as Monday, but it makes me wonder how long they had to hold on Monday?).  I spoke to a nice gentleman who determined that the problem was with a defective cartridge.  So they are shipping me a new cartridge and I should receive it within 7 - 10 business days.

I must say that I am skeptical that the cartridge will fix it, but crossing my fingers and hoping.
I do have 3 cards to post, but just haven't gotten around to loading the pix onto my computer.  Will try to do that later today.

Thanks for listening,

Cindy :\

So Sad :(

When the Imagine came out, I felt it was too expensive and I could live without it.  I was so excited that I was able to pick up one of the Imagine's at Walmart on black friday for a great price.  I brought it home and was excited to get started.  I turned it on and it said to put the Imagine More cartridge in for it to update.  I put the cartridge in and waited 20 minutes, then 30 minutes and nothing happened.  I turned it off and tried it again.  Nothing again.  I unplugged it and tried it again.  Nothing.  So I looked on line to see if there were any postings about it and saw a video about getting started.  I noticed that when she turned the machine on that the blade housing moved and the roller bars spun, just like my other Cricut machines.  So I decided that the one I had purchased was defective.  According to the web site, Cricut is out of stock on Imagines.  So I boxed it up and took it back to the store, thinking I would just return it because they probably wouldn't still have one. Low and behold they had one for me to exchange it with.  The lady at the return counter said that she had people return several of them that day.  Not terribly encouraging.

So I brought the new one home and very carefully followed the instructions to set it up.  It did the same exact thing!  My heart sunk when I turned it on and the roller bar and blade assembly didn't move.
But I went ahead and put the cartridge in when it was requested.  Guess what, nothing happened.

I was going to call ProvoCraft today, but my hubby was home sick from work and I never got around to doing it.  I will call tomorrow and hope that maybe an update or something can fix it.  I had already ordered additional mats and ink cartridges while they were on sale for black friday.  I sure hope I don't have to return it all.

So I am sad.

Pat's Scraps Anniversary

Pat's Scraps issued a challenge for her 1 year blog-anniversary.  She has been very sweet to me by visiting my blog and leaving encouraging comments, so I definetly wanted to participate.  I am a little "craft-blocked" right now.  Not thinking my best partly due to allergy medication.  But here goes:

This is a card I made for her.

It is a 2-sided card instead of one that opens. The Celebrate is from Straight from the Nest,  The Happy Blogiversary was from MS All Occasion Art cake cartridge.

Congrats, Pat.

Season's Greetings

I had to make a card to take to my Stamping Club meeting.  I had a very hard time. I just can not get in the mood to make Christmas cards or anything.  So I struggled with ideas and ended up using this cut from Winter Frolic.

This is a standard 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card.  I cut the image at 4 1/2.  Added some stickles and the stamp is a Clear Stamp that I picked up at JoAnn's. Tied a ribbon and done.

I hope the ladies liked it.

Katy's ABC Book

So for my BIG project -----  I made an ABC book for my Granddaughter from the Kate's ABCs cartridge.  It is an 8x8 book. It was a lot of work but I really enjoyed it tremendously!  I only changed one from the cartridge and it was the letter K.  I was going to just post a few of the pictures, but what the heck, here they all are.

Glitter Kitty

A glittery kitty card for my cousin's birthday.

The Kitty is from the Create-a-Critter cartridge.  A little Stickles and some Glossy Accents to finish.

I finally compled my BIG project and will be posting it later today.  Stay tuned!

Ken's Birthday card

I put this card together for my son's 25th birthday.

I used Create A Critter for the penguin and the "chillin".  I used a stamp and a punch for the shape to finish the sentiment.

Thank You -brown and pink

This a quick Thank You card I made last week.  The Thank You is from the MS Elegant Cake cartridge.  The patterned paper is from the Paper Studio Oops-A-Daisy stack.  The solid paper and ribbon is from Paper Trey Ink.  The border is a MS Deep Edge Punch.  Added a couple of gems for bling.

I haven't been posting since I have been back because I am working on a large project.  I am close to finishing and should have a post about it early next week.

Thanks for coming by. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
